At Scott James Furniture, we’re known for going the extra mile to bring our clients’ vision to life. One of our favorite projects was a custom California king bed for a Rhode Island client who wanted it to match a TV lift cabinet that was built from authentic reclaimed chestnut. Since reclaimed chestnut in large dimensions is hard to come by, we had to get creative in how we were building the bed to achieve the same look.

Our team used ash wood and skillfully recreated the warm, aged look of chestnut. To ensure a seamless match, we distressed the ash using traditional techniques, including drilling faux wormholes, torching them lightly to mimic natural aging, and hand-finishing the surface to bring out the texture. The result is a beautiful example of a custom, handmade bed that looks like it’s been around for generations.
