Finding a high-quality bed for older New England homes can be challenging, from narrow staircases and sharp corners to narrow doorways that aren’t very accommodating. Fortunately, our beds are built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery and bolt fasteners, just like classic antiques.
Mortise and tenon joints create strong, stable connections without relying on glue and nails. Bolts add extra strength and make assembly and disassembly easy without weakening the frame. Together, these time-tested techniques result in incredibly durable beds that are designed to last for generations.
This construction method makes our beds a very attractive option when clients are working tight spaces. Each bed breaks down into manageable sections, including the headboard, footboard, and side rails. The pieces can be brought up to the room and assembled onsite using the hardware and instructions we’ve provided. Sometimes folks don’t realize it’s an option to have beds assembled on site, as was the case in HGTV’s Farmhouse Fixer Season 3, Episode 8, where show hosts Kristina used our Farmhouse Spool bed in the renovation of a 1700s home in Massachusetts.
When you work with us for your beds, you are choosing timeless design and heirloom quality, all built to fit beautifully into the homes we love most.
