When to Consider a Low Post Bed for Your Bedroom

July 26, 2021

If you are thinking about beds for your next project, here are some things to consider when thinking about getting a low post bed.

Consider your view. If you have a gorgeous 180 degree view of the ocean from your bedroom, the last thing you want to do is disrupt that view with a tall bed post. Low post beds keep your sight line completely unobstructed..

Consider the size of the room. Cottages and cape-style homes often have smaller rooms, and low or slanted ceilings. In rooms like this, a low post bed won’t dominate the space the way a tall post bed will and is naturally a better fit for the space.

Consider your preference. If you prefer a low post bed style, that’s really all there is to it. Typically, a low post bed has a high headpost ranging from 48”- 60” from the floor to the top of the post and a low foot post range of 18” - 60” from the floor to the top of the post.

Some of Scott James Furniture’s more detailed low post beds include the Bristol Chessman, the Wakefield, and the Little Compton beds. For low post beds with simpler details, look at our Classic Cannonball, the Tulip, or the Farmhouse Spool beds.
