Bolt covers can be elaborate and come in a variety of shapes and finishes like nickel and brass. Our beds are assembled using bolts that go through the posts and to the side and cross rails. These bolt covers hide the end of the bolts to give your bed a finishing touch. You may have noticed that the bolt covers aren’t evenly placed on the posts, but that placement is not a design flaw. The bolts overlap inside of the post placing one on top of the other when the bed if finished.
You may have seen other beds with bolt covers that are perfectly alighted on the post. These bolt covers are merely decoration with no fastener behind them. Antique bed construction, including bolt fasteners and mortise and tenon joinery, make it possible for these beds to last for years and years.
We carry a few standard bolt covers in house and are happy to recommend other options based on the bed you are getting to ensure the right look and proportion.
